About the Collection
In 2009 when I decided to move to Berlin my beloved tree in the Warsaw garden withered, in just a week. I received this symbolically on many levels. Chamaecyparis, in German Lebensbaum - tree of life. I collected all the cones from my tree and after moving to Berlin I decided to give them new life by casting them in silver. This is how the “Joanna's Tree” collection was created. Working on it helped me through the challenges of starting over. Most of all, however, I felt that my tree was still with me.
Since then, the passion of bringing back seeds and plants from travels to beautiful places, transformed into silver and gold replicas - amulets, has evolved into the “Essence of Nature” collection. In creating it, I draw on the essence of impressions and sensations from the places I visit and the moments that are important to me. Working on it is my passion and a kind of meditation, from the moment I collect the plants to their careful hand-finishing in silver or gold casting. I refine them with attention to detail but without interfering with their natural beauty, which I bring out in minimalist composed jewelry, focused on the mastery and richness of the natural form. In the casting process, the plant material is burned and its ashes are mixed with liquid metal. The resulting forms are raw, non-ideal, always unique, like Nature herself. I am convinced that, along with their peculiar DNA, I preserve the presence of the plant soul in these forms.
I invite those who are drawn to my art, to send me treasures from their own journeys.
In this way I can offer them jewelry, the beauty of which will be both a memory and a connection to a place close to their hearts, turning absence into presence.
